SAILING CATAMARAN

PERFORMANCE IS RELATIVE

The term “High Performance Catamaran” is frequently overused. Many supposedly fast catamarans are in fact quite slow. Yes, they can achieve double-digit speed in 20 knots of breeze on the beam, but the breeze is not always that compliant - and catamarans do not get an exemption for the need to beat into the wind. And this is where High Performance is defined. Many owners of “ fast cats ” not capable of achieving double digit speeds except in the ideal conditions (wind on the beam), get tired of the pitching movement and opt out: they turn the engines on and end up motor-sailing.

The BAÑULS 53-60-78 are fast cats designed to reach high speeds under sails not under engine power with the sails up.
